Richard is a world leading expert in electroacoustics and acoustic metrology with over 30 years of experience in the field. His focus is the development of new measurement systems exploiting MEMS microphone technology to create devices which can meet specific performance requirements, such as IEC 61672 Class 1.
He also conducts research and consultancy activities on calibration of electroacoustic devices and audiometry,
Richard is currently the chair of the IEC TC29 committee for standards related to instruments and methods of measurement in the field of electroacoustics.

Ben focuses on developing full stack solutions for urban noise monitoring projects and developing new analytics to gain insights from the data produced, drawing on more than 10 years’ experience in acoustics research and a growing interest in data science. He is also involved in design and test activities for MEMS microphone based devices.
Ben is passionate about the opportunities presented by the proliferation of low-cost tech coupled with the data revolution for changing the way we measure sound and understand its impacts, leading to calmer more efficient cities.
